We went for an afternoon and drove to Brockenhurst where we hired the bikes. Armed with a cycle map we headed off and within a mile or so we were out of the village on a well-groomed cycle path. We did about 11 miles in a couple of hours and with an age range of 3yrs to 73yrs that was probably far enough but everyone agreed it was a great day out. We rounded it off with dinner at a pub in The Forest and were very grateful as always that we live so close to this wonderful area.

After a long tiring journey they really appreciate a jug of cool fresh lemonade and a cream tea when they arrive.

Our French journalists from Le Figaro who stayed earlier in the week passed on the lemonade though and opted for lots of strong espressos. Mind you they were at Stonehenge at 4am for sunrise so they didn’t get much sleep!
